Product Description
Information: Matcha is perhaps the most popular green tea on the market today. The first thing you will notice upon opening the packet is that Matcha is a finely powdered green tea and looks like an emerald colored flour. This characteristic truly sets it apart from other teas.
When brewed, the powdered leaf is not strained or left in the pot, but is whisked into a frothy concoction and consumed. Because the leaves themselves are imbibed, brewed Matcha contains hig… More >>
Matcha Green Tea Powder By Malden Tea

I drink my tee plain, This tea might be alright if you doctor it up heavly.
However, one cup made me sick. I through the nasty stuff out.

This stuff is barely acceptable. I have some Starbucks Tazo Matcha powder and thought this might be a close match in flavor. But, it’s really funky tasting. I’d describe the taste like a cross between grass clippings from a lawn mower and a really strong fishy taste. I know the Starbucks Matcha has sugar mixed in there but even still, with a pound of sugar and cream you can still easily taste that fishy flavor. I pretty sure I would not buy again. BUT, the seller shipped it VERY fast and there were no problems otherwise.

I have tried Matcha from several suppliers and this is the worst. This should come as no surprise given its very cheap price. It is brownish in color, and stale, bitter, unpleasant in taste. It cannot be used by itself to make tea. However, you can mix it with a better but still low grade matcha if you want to stetch out your supply of the better matcha. For instance, this mixed with Culinary Tea’s matcha makes for an acceptable (not good) everyday tea. I don’t recommend mixing it with a medium grade or ceremony grade matcha because that would ruin the taste that you’re paying so much for ($10-$45/oz.)
The best thing you can do is to not buy this at all. Considering that Culinary Teas’ matcha is only slight more expenisve ($3.40/oz vs 2.50/oz, but $2.62/oz. vs. $2.50/oz in bulk) but much better quality, then it makes no sense to buy this one. Maybe some will find a use for this matcha in baking. I tried to add it to smoothies and it made them somewhat sickening.

Provides a real pick me up. Rather bitter taste.
I am not familiar enough with Matcha teas in general to rate the quality of this product.

This is my first experience with green tea, so if you’re some kinda’ hoity toity tea connoisseur, just disregard this review. I got it today @ lunch, so just to try it out, I threw some in my blender (Champ HP3, I use that thing for everything) with some cold filtered water and some stevia and mixed on high for a couple minutes. It got pretty frothy and cloudy, but it tasted pretty good (maybe a bit mild). I made enough for two glasses (about 24 oz) but I easily drank it all! No aftertaste either. You’re supposed to use 160°F water, but I don’t know why since mixing wasn’t an issue. Of course, I used a good blender and consumed immediately, so maybe that had something to do with it. Hopefully it has the same health benefits if unheated since a quick-mix is most convenient for me. Shipping was fast. Will order more. Might try other suggested preparations too.
